I’ve tried endless all natural deodorant brands. Some worked, some didn’t, some I was highly allergic to, and some were better than others. If you’re still using regular (basically meaning not all-natural or aluminum free) deodorant and wanting to make the switch to something non-toxic and are looking for the best one(s) to try, I’ve got you covered! Here’s my experience with 5 popular brands.
I was so excited to try NATIVE out – I’ve heard and read such amazing things about this product, and it’s not that expensive and their packaging is cute. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and really love this one! The coconut and vanilla flavor is amazing, nice and subtle. I think this deodorant is better than Schmidt’s – for a similar comparison.
Lavanila (The Healthy Deodorant)
This was the second all-natural deodorant that I tried. I tested out the vanilla lavender scent and loved it right away. I was still in the phase where I would sweat (gross) because my body wasn’t fully adjusted to not using regular deodorant, but I didn’t smell. The scent was subtle enough and not too over powering. No irritation what’s so ever. Overall really loved this one.
Their holi (stick) – I’m not going to lie at first I was enticed to try this one out because of their gorgeous packaging. I mean how can a deodorant look this pretty? This is a deodorant that I wouldn’t mind leaving out when we have guests over. I have also heard endless positive reviews on this one and needed to try it out for myself. Anyways I ordered this from ThriveMarket.com and couldn’t wait to try it out. It arrived in the mail a few days later, looking just as beautiful as it did online. I immediately swiped it on and went about my day.
I continued using it every day for about a week to a week and a half before everything went downhill. My underarms began to itch very very bad and after so much discomfort I ran to the mirror and my armpits were soooooooooo red and almost swollen. I was trying to come up with excuses for what else could have caused this because I really wanted to love this product and I had such high hopes for it! Still not sure what I was allergic to, here’s the ingredient list (in a nutshell without the complicated names): coconut oil, beeswax, baking soda, avocado butter, sunflower butter, castor oil, honey, lavendin (I guess another form of lavender?), eucalyptus, citric acid. If you aren’t allergic to any of those ingredients I would suggest giving this one a try. It’s a bit on the pricey side but I’ve heard it works.
Origins – No Offense Alcohol and Aluminum Free Deodorant – I ran to after my terrible experience with the Agent Nateurholi (stick). I’ve had great experiences with Origins products in the past – and their face wash is the only thing that has worked for my husband – so I wanted to give theirs a try. I have no complaints about this deodorant other than I don’t totally love the scent. It has a sort of citrus scent, which sometimes doesn’t give you that “clean” scent you are expecting with citrus. But overall I’m a fan.
This was one of the first all-natural deodorants I tried when I decided to ditch my regular (ugh TOXIC) deodorant. To put it simply, it just didn’t work. I know with all-natural deodorant you still sweat, but with this one it doesn’t mask anything, I mean anything. This one people either love it or hate it. It just didn’t work for me.
Have you tried any of these all-natural deodorants yet? Leave me a comment with your faves!
